I was stoked about Yosemite. The sights, the splendor. Alas, we didn’t go. At the visitor centre outside Yosemite, we were told that smoke from the fire at Sierra National Forest blocked the signature views in Yosemite Valley. Since we were staying in an adjacent park (Inyo National Forest), that would have meant a wasted 4-6 hour drive.
Yosemite didn’t happen (this time) but we did see spectacular views from Mono Lake and our campsite at Silver Lake.
This trip has been much about getting (read: leaping) out of our comfort zones. We’ve extended ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
It’s almost been 2 weeks on the road but we’ve seen so much, had many great conversations and enjoyed random connections with other travellers.
