The Move to Micro Four Thirds
more // I just pre-ordered the @getolympus Olympus PEN E-P5. Partly for our #epicinstaroadtrip and because we’ve been wanting more shooting capability.
Returning my work Canon 5D DSLR and all the L lenses a year ago was a challenge. I was left with my iPhone 5. It turned out to be such a freeing experience. My iPhone was always with me. I was more intentional in capturing my surroundings, in the moment. I learned the limitations of the camera and leveraged brilliant apps like @vsco’s #vscocam. I’m still blown away by what photographers can do with smartphones.
However, there were always moments where you needed just a little longer or shorter focal length. Then there’s the issue of light. As good as the iPhone is, when the sun sets, that’s it. So, it was time to get back into a ‘big camera’. I had looked at the Canon 6D and its Full Frame goodness but was drawn to the Micro Four Thirds (or micro 4/3) camp for many reasons. My photographic journey comes (sort of) full circle.
I’ll be blogging more about our MFT experience and the transition into this platform.
Are any of you using MFT cameras? How’s the experience so far?
